Since establishing my business in 2009, I have had the pleasure of photographing countless (seriously – I lost count) weddings. I’ve photographed country club weddings, hotel weddings, farm weddings and church weddings, but the weddings that have felt the most natural to me are the tiny ones. Specifically, weddings that take place in gardens, backyards, restaurants B&Bs and intimate spaces, or even big spaces with few people.
I also have a love for non-traditional couples. Second marriage? Third marriage? Kids? No judgement here! I’m just happy you’re happy.
Having photographed with many other photographers, we all have our strengths and specialties, thus creating unique interpretations of the same event. I’ve come to recognize that my strengths lie first in capturing emotions. From smiles to tears, I excel at anticipating the moment and catching it before it’s gone. Secondly, I love details. To me, anything handmade, passed down or given careful attention deserves to be thoughtfully photographed. I put time into photographing details, but I don’t spend precious time styling them at the expense of missing special moments. Those moments can’t be re-enacted and those are the photos you really want, don’t you?
This is all to say that I love small weddings where I can really get to know the family and the couple. My husband and I had a 30-guest wedding at a garden and a brewery and it was the most perfect day. Going through the planning process helped me step into the bride’s shoes and think about what’s really important. Our families, the ambiance, the tears… all that was important. And if it’s important to you on your wedding day, it’s important to me.
So, henceforth, I am specializing in tiny weddings in North Carolina and beyond! I would be delighted to spend a few precious hours with you on your wedding day. Coverage begins at $1,000.
P.S. – Thanks to Bree McMahon, I have a shiny new logo for my specialty in tiny weddings!
